Throwback: That one time Gov. Beshear apologized to Kentucky’s Tupac

In 2020, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear apologized to Tupac Shakur after mistakenly suggesting he had filed a fraudulent unemployment claim under someone else’s identity.

No, not that Tupac Shakur.

Beshear had assumed the name belonged to the late rapper, but he later learned the applicant, a Lexington man, had legally changed his name to Tupac Malik Shakur. The governor called him personally to apologize and promised to help ensure his claim was resolved.
