Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Charles Booker says his campaign is building a coalition of Democrats, Republicans and independents around some of the biggest concerns he’s hearing across Kentucky — including rising costs, tariffs and the pressure they’re putting on farmers, manufacturers and the state’s bourbon industry.
Booker is running against Republican Rep. Andy Barr for the open seat being vacated by Sen. Mitch McConnell. Booker argues that focusing on those concerns is helping make a race Republicans might normally expect to win comfortably far more competitive.
“My opponent should be up by 20 or 30 points,” Booker said. “The fact that we’re within single digits … speaks to the fact that we’ve been building something.”
