Kentucky Rep. James Comer said the House Oversight Committee believes some witnesses have lied during its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, and that the committee plans to send criminal referrals to the Justice Department.
Comer told WKRC’s James Pilcher he’s “very confident” the DOJ will have no choice but to reopen its Epstein investigation. His comments underscore broader frustration with the Justice Department’s handling of the Epstein case, including its 2019 decision — under the first Trump administration — to end a related investigation into Epstein’s New Mexico ranch.
Even Comer, the Republican chairman leading the House probe, has suggested DOJ’s work was inadequate, pointing to information his committee has uncovered, including new allegations against two men, that federal investigators never pursued.
