A Louisville resident pulled out a phone and played loud data center ambient noise during a Metro Council meeting, prompting Councilman Anthony Piagentini to ask that it be stopped.
The resident’s response: “Imagine hearing that 24 hours a day.”
The noise was meant to raise concerns about the planned hyperscale data center campus on Camp Ground Road, a project being developed by PowerHouse Data Centers and Poe Companies. The roughly 154-acre campus is planned for about 1.8 million square feet, with hundreds of megawatts of power capacity. Louisville’s Planning Commission has since recommended banning future hyperscale data centers under new city rules.
