Before gloves designed to shock individuals into compliance made national news for being supplied to ICE agents, they made an appearance at an early August legislative hearing in Kentucky.
Rep. TJ Roberts, a Republican from Northern Kentucky, shared a video on X of the gloves being tested on him, saying he “didn’t have ‘volunteer to get tased in a legislative committee’” on his 2026 bingo card. He said, “it didn’t hurt, it just distracted me from any intentions of resisting.” The shock gloves are made by Lexington-based Compliant Technologies.
