Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is escalating pressure on Sen. Mitch McConnell, who hasn’t been seen in public in over 40 days since a hospitalization following a fall.
Two photos and a physician’s statement aren’t proof enough, Beshear says—he wants McConnell to speak for himself. In a new letter, he’s also pushing Senate Majority Leader John Thune to investigate McConnell’s condition and “begin the process” if the senator can’t demonstrate he’s fit to serve.
