Parton, who died Tuesday at 80, said she created the Imagination Library to honor her father, who never learned to read or write. That idea eventually grew into a program that now reaches every Kentucky county. More than 132,000 Kentucky children currently receive a free book each month, and more than 6 million books have been delivered across the state since 2001.
