Aminata Seck has been in ICE custody since August — and her attorney told LEX 18 News that she still hasn’t received the medical care she needs.
Seck, a Kentucky State University basketball player, has an ACL tear and had been scheduled for pre-op and surgery before her detention, according to attorney Sadiqa Reynolds. Reynolds told LEX 18 that Seck was hospitalized this week but raised concerns about the treatment she has received while in custody.
Seck was detained at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport while traveling with her team. Her attorney says she believes a missed student-visa paperwork deadline may have been connected to an earlier back surgery.
