Kentucky Democratic Senate nominee Charles Booker says campaigning across the state has taken him into communities he once never imagined entering.
Booker said those conversations have convinced him that Kentucky’s political and racial divides are not as impenetrable as they may appear, with some residents simply relieved that a candidate came to listen to them.
Booker is trying to build a broader rural and working-class coalition as he faces Republican Rep. Andy Barr in the race to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell.
